GRATEFUL.

Thanksgiving.

A time to be grateful.
Grateful for friends, family, food and shelter.
But also grateful for life, for nature and for love.
Those are what make living possible.
They make life enjoyable.

This time of year I wander the forest.
Littered with leaves, it feels almost magical.
The perfect way to bring me to the here and now.
To calm my worries and open my eyes.
To the beauty that is life.

I am grateful for this life.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Music obsession.

I haven't met many people that don't love music. Like many, it's a constant part of my life. I play it on the commute to work, at work with 1 headphone in, on the commute home, and all evening while I'm at home. Literally, constantly.  The best part of music is how we can identify with it in so many ways. Sometimes a certain artist's voice will evoke a particular feeling or mood. Sometimes the lyrics are just perfect. Sometimes it's how the notes flow from one to the next.

I'm always looking for new artists and albums. I love the radio for introducing me to someone new, but I never stop at just one song. I need the whole album. And if it's great, I need all the albums. Must have ALL THE ALBUMS.. Ahem, anyways.. an artist's album tells a story. And I love paying attention to the details, like how the songs are ordered, the strategic flow between them and the variety of emotions in each of the songs. If an artist doesn't put out a good album, I won't fall in love with them...

But some that I have fallen in love with include:

1) Lorde.
I'm sure most of us have heard her song "Royals", but the entire album is pretty great. She reminds me of a mix between Lana Del Rey and Tegan and Sara. And she's only 16. Now, what have I accomplished in my 7 extra years of life? Nothing close. This is one of my favourite songs - it's live, but still awesome.

2) Grouplove.
They just came out with the Spreading Rumours album, but I haven't been able to get into it as well as their previous disc, Never Trust a Happy Song, which is one of my absolute favourites. Either way, their new single is pretty stellar.

3) 30 Seconds to Mars
Okay, so this one sort of goes back to my emo days in high school. Yup, I was that girl. 30 Seconds to Mars totally rocked their new album Love Lust Faith + Dreams. Again, this whole disc tells such an awesome story. Each song flows into the next and before you know it, it's over and leaving you wanting more:

How do you like your music?

Book Review: A million little pieces.

This isn't really an in-depth book review, I just wanted to leave you with my thoughts.

There's no better feeling than finishing a book that has spoken to you.
This book spoke to me. Inspired me.
Something about creating your own destiny. Having control of your own life.
That you are the one who makes your decisions. You, and only you.

As I've mentioned before, addiction stories freak me out.
It took me a while to warm up to the author's account of battling his addictions.
At first, I had to put the book down for a day because thinking about it made me feel sick.
... I know, I'm a baby and get really sensitive about these things.

Either way, I decided not to quit reading it because it was supposed to be really good.
I'm so glad I didn't.

If you're in the market for an crazy, intense, but really good read, this little book is for you:

A Million Little Pieces
By James Frey

Snapshots of my Montreal weekend.

Surprisingly I didn't take too many pictures of the weekend, but here's what I did manage to capture. If you follow me on instagram or have seen Twitter recently, you've probably seen some of these:

(1) Enjoying a glass of wine with our steak dinner. (2) Our new neon tops. (3) Incognito. (4) Swings that make music. Seriously. (5) My shopping haul. (6) Neon nails, already chipping.. (7) Chilling to my music on the trip home.

Definitely one of the best weekends in a while. I hope you guys had a great weekend too!

What's made it onto your spring wish-list?

Can you believe that today is this little blog's blog-iversary? Today Enter Kelly turns 1 year old. Wow, how time flies. I've learned so much and e-met so many new people. I'm so appreciative of everyone's support over the year, you guys are seriously the best.

To see how far my blog & I have come, here are 10 neat facts about us:

1. I started Enter Kelly with Kendi's 30 for 30 challenge. What a great way to kick off the blog, I must say.

To see the rest, click here!

2. I have learned how to belt just about everything, including this poncho

3. I gained the confidence to distress my own jeans.

4. This "summer work-wear wish-list" I created has made it's rounds on Pinterest and is consequently one of my most viewed posts.

5. I bought my very first hat in YEARS. I blame the impulse buy on all the other lovely bloggers wearing hats during the summer. ;)

6. I've seeked lots of advice from other bloggers, including whether or not this skirt was too short.

7. I've gone through the trials and tribulations of owning a poor quality camera, and then learning how much better a DLSR really is.

8. I've gone through a number of firsts in my wardrobe. For example, this outfit. First sheer top, first pair of flared trouser jeans. And know what? I love trying new things.

9. I've learned how to deal with my insecurities in a much more positive fashion.

10. My most-viewed outfit post is an "Open to Interpretation" post where I linked up with Kayla of Freckles in April and wore this:

Happy birthday to us and here's to another wonderful year of blogging. Thanks for the love & support everyone. Honestly, I wouldn't have been able to learn all this without you :) xo

Blogger Spotlight: Melody of Happiness & Love

This month I've got another Blogger Spotlight for you all. Today I'm featuring Melody from Happiness & Love. I remember having only 10 followers on this little blog of mine and Melody was one of them. She's such a sweetheart and has stuck around after all this time! I love her sense of style and I find myself looking to her for inspiration these days. Melody, take it away!

Hey! First I want to say that I am so excited Kelly asked me to be a guest blogger! She is definitely one of my favorites, so I was happy she thought of me when putting together her blogger spotlight series. Thanks Kelly! : )

My name is Melody and I blog over at Happiness & Love. I usually do outfit post featuring pieces from my small wardrobe, mix in some DIYs, and also inspiration post. Having a small wardrobe and limited budget, I've learned to mix & match what I have and make it work. I like to share that with everyone and hopefully inspire other people. : )

Lately, if I do get something new, it's usually from a thrift store or a gift from Josh (my bf). For Christmas Josh bought me faux leather pants, because I had been going on and on about how I want to try them out. But I'm not going to lie, when I first saw leather leggings/pants all over the place, I thought they were cute but where in the world would I wear leather pants!? I saw everyone wearing them with heels and dressed up. Since I don't normally wear heel unless I'm going out, I didn't know if I could pull it off, but that wasn't going to stop me from trying. That's why I love fashion, you don't have to wear it exactly the same way everyone else is. Fashion is fun & you should try new things!  ; )

So here is my look on leather pants.

Hope you like it. Come by and visit me

p.s. Isn't that outfit the greatest? I'm seriously dying over her pants...

P-inspired for Spring

First of all, I want to thank you all for your comments last post. You guys are too sweet and I'm so glad I have such wonderful and supportive readers :)  Seriously, you guys are the best.

Anyways, I'm tired of parkas and snow boots already. Come to think of it, I was tired of parkas and snow boots before it even snowed.  This is definitely reflected through my recent Pinterest pins. We're getting warmer than average weather here, but the snow is nowhere near melted and it's still pretty darn cold!

Here are five reasons why I'm excited for spring:

1. Open, light-weight jacket, sneakers

2. No jacket, open-toed shoes

3. A crisp white top in the sunlight

4. Breaking out the bare legs (& my leo print flats!)

5. Cuffed pants & colours.

What are you most excited about for spring?

Coloured Denim.

It seems that coloured denim will be sticking around for a little while longer. We have all seen the rise of cobalt blue and red, but now stores are featuring so many other colours like purple, yellow, pink, green and orange! I love my blue jeans and would love to invest in another colour, but which one?

(1) Coral: Forever 21
(2) Mustard: ASOS
(3) Violet: Forever 21
(4) Pink: American Eagle
(5) Green: ASOS
(6) Red: Forever 21

What colour would you pick?

Food Love: Candy Cane Christmas Cookies

I'm sure many of you have been busy baking up a wonderful Christmas-y storm of cookies! I know I have been! I made these candy cane covered cookies for a cookie exchange that I went to. They were yummy, and as usual weren't my own recipe. I found the recipe here.. They just look kinda burnt because my oven is crazy and likes to overheat without warning... Not my fault...

What you'll need:
1 cup softened butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp peppermint extract
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup crushed candy canes
3 tbsp granulated sugar

Directions:
1. In a large bowl, cream butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy using an electric beater (medium speed).

2. Add the egg and peppermint and vanilla extracts and beat until well blended.

3. Gradually add the flour and salt; mix well.

4. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.

5. In a shallow bowl, combine crushed candy canes and granulated sugar; mix well.

6. After the hour's up, pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees F...

7. Shape the chilled dough into 1-inch balls and then roll each ball in the candy can mixture; place on baking sheets and bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until browned.

8. Immediately remove from the baking sheets and place on wire racks to cool.
