It's been about 3 months in the making, but I am officially calling a hiatus on blogging.
Right now there are just too many things happening in my life - most of them incredibly awesome - but they take up my time. And I just don't have the time to devote to blogging. I've lost inspiration, desire and the time needed to think up posts, photograph outfits, and the like.
I may be back. Who knows. This could be a temporary thing. The fact is I've found love in blogging, and may find it again some day. Just for now, life is getting in the way. And I'm not complaining.
You can still catch me on Twitter and Instagram though, I can't give those up ;) Plus I'll still be creeping your blogs; I'll never get tired of reading them.. So you'll see me around. I'm not gone for good.
Until next time.

THOUGHTS ON CHANGE.
The only thing constant in life is change.
It's one of my favourite quotes. It's a constant reminder that at any moment, things can change. Your life can be different. What you know can become what you knew as you take a step away from a life you set.
I try to remember to...
Never take anything for granted.
Always appreciate the people you love.
And never be scared to walk a new path.
Life will always present a new path. Often when you least expect it.
This quote has inspired thoughts of a second tattoo for a while now. A triangle (delta), representing change. Just a little one, on my ankle. Maybe this summer.
5 MORE REASONS WHY LIVING ALONE IS FAB.
Look guys, I'm in a blanket fort.
Last time I wrote one of these posts was when I was pretty new to being roommate-less.
But now that it's been 8 months, I feel much more educated. I have a slightly refined perspective. More reasons why being roommate-less is awesome.
1. You can sing along to any song you want. You can quote any movie you're watching. And you don't piss anyone off. Yes, I love doing both those things. No, no one likes hearing other people do either of those things. You definitely don't want to be around when I'm watching Harry Potter or listening to Lorde.
2. Curry. I can cook with curry. No one is like "eww it stinks". Although, if they said it like that seriously, I might question their taste in everything. Point being, no one gets mad at me for loving Indian and Thai food. Awesome-possum.
3. The entire shower is mine. Every ledge. Every inch. My shampoo. My conditioner. MY body wash. No cramped space. My face wash doesn't fall off it's spot. There's room for everything in there.
4. My couch has become a coat-rack. Or a "drop your clothes off here when you're lazy". It's a good thing I don't often have visitors, or they'd have nowhere to sit.
5. When I'm not putting them on the couch, I can do weird things like hang my clothes on the fridge handle, or from the hanging light, or even from the front door. And it doesn't get in anyone's way but mine. And no one judges me for having an over-flowing closest.
What would you do if you didn't have a roommate?
COFFEE DATE HAPPENING OVER HURRR.
Gooooooooood morning. Or should I say afternoon..
Let's have another coffee date today, shall we? As you know from past coffee dates, basically I talk about nothing important and take pictures about it.
So how is everyone today? What are you enjoying?
My Keurig is my favourite thing. Today it made me a Timothy's Cinnamon Pastry coffee. Add some maple syrup and almond milk and WOW. This thing is fiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.
To accompany my coffee, I'm eating popcorn. I went to the movies with Marianna yesterday and we got ourselves some specialty popcorn. What you see here is a mix of Chocolate Caramel & Caramel popcorn. I'm very obviously enjoying my leftovers.

Except I haven't eaten lunch yet. Pictured here: cucumbers, hummus and cranberry bread with peanut butter. Not as exciting as the chocolate caramel popcorn, but I eat this to earn the popcorn. So it is good enough for me!
I've been breaking in a new pair of boots and I think they're out to get me. 2 weeks of wearing them, and all of a sudden my feet start to really hurt. When I walk it hurts - i.e. when the toes bend. So after a few days of comfy shoes and no relief I went to the clinic. Doctor told me that my bone's being stressed, and I need to stay off my feet or it could break.
Awesome.
So in the nature of "not walking" ... I limped to an appointment I had a couple blocks away from me downtown this morning. I wore my hair like this. I never ever wear buns in public, so it felt pretty cray to do.
And because the wind has decided to attack the city, my ears were sodamncold and my big scarf helped. I wore it like this to keep warm, and it was fab. Thank you scarf, you have served me well over the years.
Now I'm back home. I just finished making a slow cooker meal and now I'm rocking out to Snow Patrol's If there's a rocket tie me to it (my favourite song of theirs...uuughh god it's sooo goooood).
In the slow cooker I've got a sort of beef stew, but I definitely didn't follow any recipes so wish me luck. Seriously, I am not a fancy cook. I need it.
What are you up to this fine sunday? Do anything fun over the weekend!?
STORIES.
Via Pinterest*
Some stories stay with us forever.
We learn this from a young age, whether it's something we read in a book.
Or a movie we watched and fell in love with.
Or, as we get older, it's a story we've experienced.
Something that's happened in our life.
Something we'll never forget.
Some stories you wish you could forget, but they just haunt you. After so many years, I wonder if it'll be forever.

LIFE LATELY.
My life lately has been...
AN EXPERIMENT
I've always had cystic acne on my chin. It's been mild, maybe 1-3 zits at a time. Until about 5 months ago when it was basically an explosion on my face. I had 15 at one point. I have no idea what caused it. Very little had changed in terms of my diet, product use, stress, etc.. According to the internets, acne in this area of the chin is hormonal. For the last 5 months I've made some lifestyle changes to try and figure it out. I've gone basically dairy-free, which has resulted in much lusting over ANYTHING cheesy. I've increased my intake of fruits & veggies, and seriously reduced my intake of refined sugar. I've started replacing my beauty products with natural alternatives. I've been keeping up with workouts as well, since they help manage hormone levels. There have been some improvements, but my skin is basically back to where it has always been. Still mild cystic acne, but now with discolouration (battle scars) from the episode.
I'm still working on figuring it out.
EXHAUSTING
I know we all go through this, but things are just that much harder when you get home from work and it's dark out. Basically motivating yourself is impossible. I only work an 8.5 hour day, but during that entire time I don't turn my brain off. The private sector is go-go-go, and since I'm hourly and can't work overtime, there's a lot of stuff I need to get done. I'm not complaining, I LOVE being busy. It's why I went into the private sector in the first place. I like a challenge. But recently it's fried my brain and when I get home, all I want to do is snuggle into my bed with Netflix. The lack of sun and a fresh blanket of snow isn't helping, either.
REWARDING
With all this craziness at work, some opportunities have come up. I've been working hard for something, and it looks like Monday will be the "make it or break it" day. Wish me luck, because my success with this basically decides my future. Dun dun dunnnn.
EXCITING
My cousin from Denmark is coming to Canada for Christmas!!! I haven't seen her in TWO years! I am so incredibly excited to spend a few weeks with her. Although I have a grown-up job now, I was able to swing a day off so I can cram in some serious family time and cousin lovin' (not in a weird way, you weirdos). Can't wait to see you, Line!
QUOTE OF THE DAY.
Doesn't this quote basically sum up life?
We live day in and day out, doing basically the same thing.
But the world is constantly evolving; you are constantly growing.
Life can feel stagnant, but behind the scenes things are changing.
Slowly, perhaps... but they're changing.
And you're changing with them.
GOOD-BYE FALL.
I took this photo a number of weeks ago, when the trees were changing colours and the grass was starting to lose it's lustre.
As I sit here, large snowflakes are tumbling past my window. I can't see the ground from this angle, but I imagine it's much different than this.
Today I start playing Christmas music. It only seems fitting with the first snowfall of the year. The holiday season is starting.
But I feel alone.
It's an odd feeling. Like I should be experiencing this time with someone else - family, friends, anybody.
But I'm sitting by myself in my apartment staring out the window. There's nothing wrong with being by myself, except this feels like a sort-of-magical-moment and I wish I didn't have to experience it alone.
Maybe it's the Christmas music making me emotional.
Or maybe it's the snow.
Or maybe it's that I still don't have snow boots and I need to go get groceries.
Damn.
LESSONS.
I think reflection is an important part of learning who you are, and "knowing yourself" is the best thing you can do. I think a lot, but that's part of what makes me me. And I'm not going to feel bad about it.
In fact, in all of this thinking I have learned some valuable things about myself and my choices, i.e. why I make certain decisions, what things I value most, and where I hope to be eventually. I've also learned some general things about life. For example:
You have to be okay with not knowing. You won't always have the answer, you won't always be given a reason, and you need to be okay with it. You need to accept it and move on. There's no point in hanging on, you will only be disappointed.
You are in control of your happiness. Whether you like it or not, it's you who controls it. A lot of life is about perspective. Do you think positively or negatively? If something throws your life off-balance, do you sit back and let it happen, or do you take control and drive your life back on track? It's your choice.
Let those who matter to you know. No one wants to wake up one day and realize they lost the chance to say how they felt. When was the last time you told your family you loved them? When was the last time you told your best friends they meant the world to you? Be grateful for the people in your life and let them know it.
Optimism can get you far. Truth. Again about perspective- it's much much much easier to live life on the bright side. Don't let negative people get you down, because surrounding yourself with them will get you down. I promise. Pessimism will convince you that certain experiences or chances aren't worth it. Remember that your glass is half full. Think of all the things that make you smile and try and see the good in every situation. You'll feel lighter, fuller and happier. You will get farther.
So tell me... do you think a lot? Do you sit back and evaluate?
GRATEFUL.
Thanksgiving.
A time to be grateful.
Grateful for friends, family, food and shelter.
But also grateful for life, for nature and for love.
Those are what make living possible.
They make life enjoyable.
This time of year I wander the forest.
Littered with leaves, it feels almost magical.
The perfect way to bring me to the here and now.
To calm my worries and open my eyes.
To the beauty that is life.
I am grateful for this life.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Little moments.
I once read an article about the little moments in life that make you feel alive. How important it is to recognize them, hold them in your head, and save them for a rainy day. To remember how you felt in that moment; so alive, so free, and so happy. Next time you are down, or life gets in the way of your zen, reach into your mind- your catalogue of moments- and pick one. Now remember how you felt. Remember how the sun shone on your face, or how the breeze ruffled your sweater. Remember how peaceful you were, how at home. Remember the little moments in life that make you feel alive. The moments that make life worth living. Hold onto them and remember.
Notebooks and diaries.
It belongs to me. My thoughts, my feelings, my words.
Do you keep a notebook or diary of sorts?
Pieces of advice.
Ok so this photo was taken a couple months ago, but I was watching Modern Family then too, so it counts.
If you aren't watching Modern Family, you probably should. It's hilarious.
Anyways, I took away a couple pieces of advice that I decided I'd share with you:
1. When life gives you lemonade, make lemons. Life will be all like "whaaaaaaat?!"
Isn't this great advice? Throw life off course, go down an unexpected road, do something different.
2. The most amazing things that can happen to a human being will happen to you, if you just lower your expectations.
Sad, but in many cases true. A bit depressing, so don't dwell on it.. But when you expect less, you're often pleasantly surprised.
Now, time for me to go make some lemons from my lemonade. Now, how do I go about that exactly?
Stay tuned for tomorrow's post... I'm pretty excited about it!
Quote of the day.
Hey life, are you listening? Right now I'm a little frustrated with you.
Your constant changes and your ability to surprise are what I love and hate most about you.
And often, I don't understand why certain things happen the way they do. Reality never seems to make sense to me. What's up with that?
-----
Sorry I am so backed up on blog reading. Things have been busy! I will catch up this weekend, I promise.
The thing about small towns.
The thing about small towns, is you go along in your early years meeting people who love it and will never leave, or hate it and can't wait to turn 18 and run as far away as possible. I was neither.
Going to university a mere 45 minutes away kept me close enough to visit, but gave me enough of a change. Living in the city is definitely different than having a forest in my backyard.
These days, I am enjoying being a city girl. I love being 2 blocks from my grocery store. No car payments means a little more money in my pocket. I can go anywhere and do anything within a 10 km radius. At any time. Also the fact that there are no mosquitoes is kind of amazing.
But I come home often to visit my parents. Part of it is to see them, but another part of it is to wind down. City life is a little busier than life out here. You can get caught up in the movement and all of a sudden your head is spinning. Coming home gives me a chance to breathe, take a few minutes for myself and relax.
This is where I like to come and read. By the river. It's peaceful, beautiful and rejuvenating. I fall in love with my small hometown all over again in moments like these.
You never know where life is going to take you. In a year or two I may be hours away in an even bigger city. But I will know that a part of me will always belong to the countryside. A part of me will always call this place home. And who knows, maybe someday I will end up back here.
Alive.
I keep having these moments of serenity where I pause and think, "wow, isn't this beautiful". Whether it's in the simplicity of sitting on a park bench by the water feeling the breeze in my hair, or sitting at home and admiring how beautifully the sun shines through my curtains at the exact right time.
It's like I'm waking up. My senses are coming alive. I feel like I'm seeing things for the first time. Even though, in reality, they're nothing really new at all.
On writing.
I've never really been one to write. I blog, but my blog is here to share stories with you. It's a communication tool. Though I find blogging relaxing, I've never had a desire to write outside of this medium.
But recently I've found myself filled with words, thoughts and emotions that I can't help but need to document. It's weird, isn't it, how the smallest of things can inspire you. One day you're filled with peace and quiet, and the next you're frantically trying to scribble all your thoughts down before you lose one.
And I've been using my phone to help me blog. I'll open the note pad and write and write and write possible post content. Before, I would take photos and write a post that worked. Or wait until I got home with an idea in the back of my head.
Not gunna lie, this shift is weirding me out a bit.
Lounge outfit + today's thoughts.
Forever 21 crop top; American Eagle pants; Tom's shoes
You know those things that you have to do, but you don't want to.
You're scared of opening up a can of worms, releasing what might be sealed tight beneath.
But what if that can of worms has been begging to be opened?
Maybe you just couldn't see it until now?
Take control. In the end, you'll be glad you did.
On a lighter note, if I could wear anything for the rest of my life, this would probably be it.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeee! Happy Wednesday!
Weeeeeeeeeeeeee! Happy Wednesday!
Story of my life. Literally.
More and more I'm glad to be able to share my life and stories on this blog rather than just pictures of my outfit. I came across a few interesting ways for you guys to get to know me better, and I'd like to turn some into posts.
Today I'm challenging myself to teach you a little more about me, by telling you the story of my life in only 250 words. Here it goes!
Today I'm challenging myself to teach you a little more about me, by telling you the story of my life in only 250 words. Here it goes!
I was born just over 23 and a half years ago, into an amazing and loving family. I am extremely blessed and very lucky to have them all in my life. With my mom being French-Canadian, love and family is the most important thing in life and I've grown up to value it.
When I was 3 I started Kindergarten because I was born late in the year, and apparently I cried a lot. When I was 9 I fell off my bike pretty bad and scarred my knee. It's still there. That same year, I had my first real boy crush, and it lasted through four years of elementary (I don't stray!). When I was 9 I also met my best friends who have still been with me over these last 13 (almost 14) years of my life. I love them to pieces.
When I was 13 I started high school and was obsessed with Good Charlotte. I went all "punk" for a couple of years (not a joke). When I was 16 I started to grow up and realized how complicated life was. I also started dating a boy who, in the end, taught me so many lessons about love, life and myself.
When I was 17 I went away to University and graduated 4 years later at the top of my class. At 22, I was tasked with finding out who I was, what I was doing, and where I was going. At 23, I'm still trying to figure it out. Also, I have learned that life will always be complicated.
Your turn. Think you could sum your life up in 250 words?
Fixating.
I'm currently here listening to my next-door neighbour using their water and my upstairs neighbours watching TV. Before drifting off to sleep, I've decided to write down some thoughts.
I fixate on things. This is a problem of mine. I don't know why, but as soon as I have a new goal or challenge on the horizon, I tend to obsess over it.
Sometimes it's productive - like moving into my new place. I was obsessed for two months trying to find the perfect furniture and layout for the place. It was so fun trying to create my own space and I'm glad I wasn't left scrambling at the last minute.
Other times it's a little less meaningful. I sit there and think about certain things I can't control or change. When there's nothing else going on in my life, I tend to go back to the same thoughts and let them stew. This rarely does any good, and never allows me a clear perspective.
I feel like I'm always thinking. My mind never takes a break.
I think it's time to start bringing silence and peace into my life. Turn my brain off and stop thinking for a few minutes each day. Now the question is how?
Do you have a hard time turning your brain off?
