CAR SHOPPING.

Mossimo turtle-neck & skirt (via Target); Old Navy tights; James & Jules heels (via Zellers)

I'm thinking of taking the next big step of adult life and buying a car.
It's a big step, ladies. But it's becoming a necessary one. Mostly because I can't stand hanging out outside in -40 waiting for the bus. That shit ain't cool.

So here I am, totally lost and confused, trying to figure out if I should buy a car. There are so many things to consider. Do I want new or used? What model? What brand? What year? What colour? Mostly I've decided I want something cute and small, but from there I'm just about useless.

I'm going to Google it. Isn't that what you do when you make big decisions?

Little smiles and sing-alongs.

American Eagle jeans, jacket; Gap top; Zellers boots

When I drive home from work by myself, I turn the radio max volume, rotate through the stations, and sing along with all the rockin' songs.

Sometimes I have the thought: what if someone was listening to the same radio station, looked over/behind at me, and saw me singing along to the same song they were listening to.. It's probably happened, but I've just never known.

Yesterday, I was at a red light, stereo blaring, and I look behind me. Some young dude in a bright red sports car is having THE TIME OF HIS LIFE, singing along with the radio. When I realize he's actually singing to the same song I'm listening to, I can't help but smile. He was getting so into it, with hand movements, facial expressions, and hammering the wheel of his car to the beat. It was awesome.

Just plain awesome.

Cozy wrap sweater.

Sweater: Zellers
Tee & belt: Forever 21

When the world around me starts to look dead, I can't think of anything better than a cozy wrap sweater to snuggle into.

Winter is coming.
Update: Winter has come. It's been snowing. Gross.

Running errands in comfort.

I call this one "I really don't want to take outfit photos but must drag myself outside to do so". It's tiring doing all your pictures on the weekend. After about three rounds I'm just too lazy to change again. I push it off to Sunday and by then I just don't care enough to add much interest to the outfit. Hence the black and white theme. I went for comfort and simplicity while running errands in town.

I found an axe for my halloween costume though! I was on a hunt for that and suspenders. I found some great suspenders at Giant Tiger for $9 (I expected cheaper, to be honest). Then my last stop, a new party store that opened up, had a "bloody axe" on sale for $9. Sweet - an $18 costume, since I own everything else. Can't guess what I am yet? Well, you'll have to wait and see. But be forewarned, it's really not that exciting...

Are you doing anything for halloween?

Polka-dot tights.

I was taking photos and all of a sudden this light breeze comes and blows the hair off my face. I was feeling a little model-esque as I posed, as if I was in front of a wind-machine... Oh c'mon - I know it happens to you too ;).

And hello polka-dot tights. Everyone I saw gave me the up-and-down. Seriously, every.single.person I came across looked at my tights first, then my face. I guess it's not normal to see polka-dotted legs in the workplace, but that's okay. It's fun being a little different.

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I got the rest that I wanted and I'm ready to take on the week ahead. Work has been so busy lately, so I'm grateful for our long weekend coming up. I seriously can't believe it's the first day of October.

Easy work style.

Joe Fresh top; American Eagle denim; Alfred sung (via Zellers) shoes

Sometimes there's nothing better than skinny jeans and heels. Top it off with a structured button-up top. This is a good work outfit for the casual office. The dark wash denim and heels add that little bit of professional, while the top is comfortable but still nicely structured.

I got back from the family camping trip last night and we had a blast! A couple weeks ago my friends introduced me to Nutella s'mores. Instead of chocolate, you put Nutella on a graham cracker. I have NO idea why I had never thought of this before. I put Nutella on everything but never considered a s'more. Either way, we ate these the entire camping trip.

Seriously guys, I think I found my new weakness. Nutella and marshmallows go together like...well, Nutella and marshmallows :) Try it next time you're making s'mores. You'll thank me. Or curse me for creating your newest addiction...

Satin tops & cropped pants.

Here's an outfit I wore to work. I haven't worn this top in about a year, but it's survived all of my closet clean-ups. I'm glad I've kept it, it's got its special moments. Also, there's nothing better than a pair of cropped dress-pants. I absolutely love this black pair that I got from Forever 21. They were affordable and actually wash nicely - a hit-or-miss quality when you buy from Forever 21. They're also high-waisted, which is pretty fun. I can get a bunch of different looks out of 'em.

These shoes came to me for my bridesmaid outfit at my best friend's wedding last September. I have to say they're some of the comfiest heels I own, and I probably wear them a hand-full of times a week at work. So to my friends who I argued with about buying them, I am sorry. You guys have wonderful taste in footwear and I don't know where I would be without them. :)

Happy Tuesday world!

Affordable style.

Forever 21 cardigan and top; H&M pants; Zellers shoes

Here's a work outfit from last week. Both the top and pants were new purchases that I really shouldn't have bought but couldn't walk away from. Seriously - they were steals. 10$ for a cute heart-printed tank? $15 for a pair of high-waisted stretchy denim? Um, yes please. That kind of stuff sucks me in. I'm a sucker for super affordable style.

The same day I bought these "bank-breakers", my friend took me into Holt Refrew and asked for my opinion on some designer sunglasses. Well folks, she looked fabulous in those glasses but the price was ca-ray-zay.  I know many people who like to invest in long-lasting quality pieces, and I can definitely appreciate their reasons, but I haven't hit that point yet. I'm still loving my $15 pants and $5 sunnies from the clearance bin at Aldo. I'll show you those babies another time. :)

What drives your shopping? Quality, price or both?

Packing.

Ugh, I think I'm starting a cold again. The dry cough is back and I don't know why. In some ways I feel like my cold from a few weeks ago never fully went away. This is not fair, I just want to feel better!

I have to pack tonight for Montreal. I'm only gone for two days but I really have to consider the things I need versus the things I want to bring. Bussing with tonnes of stuff is never fun. The weatherman is calling for cool but sunny days for Saturday and Sunday...

What would you pack?  Do you have any wise packing strategies?

It's Tuesday.

...I ran out of creative titles for this post.

I guess I could have added a necklace to the outfit. I debated for 5 minutes this morning and then decided against it. Looking back, it was probably a good idea. But I AM wearing heels! You can't tell but they're there! That's gotta add a little something...

I've been posting a lot of outfits that I've been wearing at work (this being one of them). I love being able to come home and just take pictures as the sun is going down. Plus it frees up my weekends from trying to jam in a tonne of outfit photos into two days! Except for this week. Today we woke up to snow and the forecast is rain until Friday. No after-work photos for me :(

Also thanks everyone for your comments on my last post. I'm not exactly "okay" but I will be soon. Just keeping my head up :)

EBEW: Pastels

Costa blanca button up; Alfred Sung blazer (via Zellers); American Eagle pants; Spring flats

Today I'm linking up with Everybody, Everywhere and wearing pastels in honour of spring.

I grabbed the only pastel piece of clothing that I own - this light-pink button-up. I'm more of a brights person. I think pastels wash me out, just because I'm so darn pale, and I tend to avoid them at stores.

What do you think of pastels? Have you jumped on the pastel bandwagon?

PS. I want to thank everyone for your support, comments and ideas on my last post. Thanks for being so awesome - you guys rock :)

Turning it around.

Zellers top; Dynamite pants; Le Chateau shoes

I've been feeling a little down these last few weeks. There are so many little things that have contributed to it, and most of them I can't control.  However, I'm finally starting to figure out how to turn it around through other parts of my life.

First of all, I've started eating a lot better. A fridge stocked full of fruits and vegetables makes me feel awesome. Eating fresh food has such a big impact on my mood and I've noticed myself craving more and more fresh food and vegetables. This week I finally got off my butt and did something about it.

Secondly, I'm going to the gym more often. Every 2nd day to be exact. I'm starting to see more toned muscle, which is really fun. It's neat how your body changes for the better when you stick to a routine workout schedule. It's acting as my motivation to keep going, which rocks.

Lastly, I've been exploring new things. For example, my music collection. Ever since I was little I have disliked country music. Growing up in the country it was so typical of everyone to love it. I guess "daring to be different", I never gave it a chance. But you know what? This past week I downloaded myself some country. Just because I felt like it. I was pleasantly surprised. I know it sounds silly, but exploring new things like this is awesome. I'm learning about myself and I'm finding new things to love.

When you're having a tough week, what do you do to make yourself feel better?

Curls.

Smart Set sweater; American Eagle jeans; James & Jules (via Zellers) shoes

Boo, I'm sad that most of these pictures didn't turn out focused. I took them and then changed into PJs, and I'm definitely not putting real pants back on to re-take these photos. It's.just.not.happening.

It's kind of funny how many comments I got on my hair at work today. Seriously. I've been switching up between curls and straight forever and all of a sudden I get at least 5 co-workers commenting. "Is your hair naturally curly or straight?" "Who did your hair?" "Ohhh cute hair!" I mean, I love a compliment - don't get me wrong. It's just funny that I've done this before and not a single word. Maybe I was giving off good vibes today or something...Who knows!

Happy Hump Day! (aka Happy Wednesday...)

Knit & Cognac.

Zellers sweater; F21 shirt; American Eagle jeans; H&M Socks; Spring boots; Dynamite belt

This cognac belt is my favourite part of the outfit. Well, I guess both the belt and the knit sweater. And maybe the boots... :)

These photos were taken on the weekend. We've had a huge thaw since and there is nearly no snow left on the ground. I'm sure a bunch of you find this hard to believe since you've really only seen my blog with snow, but I promise you grass does exist around these parts of the world!  And hopefully you'll get to see it soon.
