That one time I left my cell phone in a cab...

Dynamite faux-leather jacket; Windsor top; American Eagle distressed jeans; Converse; eBay bag

Last weekend we ventured out to beer fest in Gatineau. A bunch of us piled into a cab and went on our merry way to try out all different kinds of beer. Now, I'm not a huge beer drinker (read: It mostly tastes like grass), but it was a good time for sure.

We returned home and I left my cell phone in the cab. Because I'm practically glued to it, I noticed less than a minute later but the cab had driven off. We were able to figure out the cab company, thankfully, and a customer had found it in the back seat. $30 later I was reunited with my phone.

And that, my friends, is the closest I've come to losing it. I'll have it on a leash for the next few weeks until it decides to behave. I don't trust that it'll never leave me again. It needs to learn its lesson.

And I need to learn not to leave it behind in cabs.

Moving in style...Not

I just don't think it's possible to move stylishly.
I mean, sneakers are a must for comfort, shorts for air-flow since it'll be warm, and a comfortable/breathable shirt for heavy lifting.
And it MUST be okay to get all of these things dirty.

Yep, moving is not a fashionable thing, folks.

Knotted.

Not much to say other than the next few weeks are going to be crazy!

This weekend I've helped my brother move, cleaned/painted my apartment, and joined some wonderful local ladies for a blogger brunch.

Next weekend I'm buying, moving and building IKEA furniture. Pray for me.
Over the next couple of weeks, I'll be heading to the new apartment to clean more, bring things and make the place liveable.

If I'm spotty around these parts, you know why!

Running errands in comfort.

I call this one "I really don't want to take outfit photos but must drag myself outside to do so". It's tiring doing all your pictures on the weekend. After about three rounds I'm just too lazy to change again. I push it off to Sunday and by then I just don't care enough to add much interest to the outfit. Hence the black and white theme. I went for comfort and simplicity while running errands in town.

I found an axe for my halloween costume though! I was on a hunt for that and suspenders. I found some great suspenders at Giant Tiger for $9 (I expected cheaper, to be honest). Then my last stop, a new party store that opened up, had a "bloody axe" on sale for $9. Sweet - an $18 costume, since I own everything else. Can't guess what I am yet? Well, you'll have to wait and see. But be forewarned, it's really not that exciting...

Are you doing anything for halloween?

What to Wear challenge: Summer Concert.

Forever 21 top (with DIY cut sleeves); American Eagle cutoffs (DIY from jeans); Aerie concert bra; Converse shoes

My formula for outdoor summer concert wear is simple: comfy shoes+shorts+breezy top+messy bun. Here's why:
  • Comfortable shoes so your toes don't break when people step on them. It's bound to happen. Converse save my feet.
  • Shorts. You need to be able to jump, run, or do whatever without worrying about your dress/skirt riding up.
  • Breezy top. If you're out in the sun all day, you need something that won't attract the heat (i.e. light colour) and that will breathe (cotton is your bff).
  • Hair up. You'll probably get sweaty and gross. This is no fun when you have long hair trailing down your back. A messy bun is a must, unless you're magical and don't sweat or you like that sweaty/wet look ;)
And because you're probably going to be gross and dirty by the end of the day, I always go for a grungier look in general. This way there's nothing to ruin when your clothes gets dirty. I mean, cut-offs and DIY cut sleeve tops? They already look messy, I don't care if they get messier.

I linked up with Sharon's What to Wear challenge today where she asked us to show what we would wear to a summer concert.
The Tiny Heart

Karma.

Dynamite jacket; American Eagle shirt & pants; Converse shoes

You know when you hear about something sucky happening to someone who was mean to you? You know how even though you shouldn't wish bad things for people, it still makes you smirk a little and think 'serves you right'? (or maybe I'm just evil...)

Well everyone, karma is alive and well.

Attack of the cat.

Dynamite shirt; AE jeans and tee; Converse shoes

If you weren't distracted by my outfit, chances are you noticed a certain cat photo-bombing these pictures - AGAIN. This time it's funny because she's slowly slinking towards me and I don't even notice until I upload these pictures to my computer. What a tool.

So these pants pretty much save my life. They can be dressed up with a blazer and heels, and dressed all the way down with sneakers and a leather jacket. Amazing. They're my new go-tos. Ladies, get yourself a pair of khaki skinnies! You will forever love them... Just my two cents for the day.

Layering Button-Ups

A cold day in Montreal on Saturday meant lots of layers. Orange button-up + boyfriend's plaid button-up + leather jacket = warm!

Dynamite jacket; AE pants; ALDO purse; Converse shoes; Old Navy top x 2

This purse is my new favourite thing in the world. I was watching Linda's Thursday Latelies a couple weeks ago, and she mentioned this fabulous purse from ALDO that she had picked up. Immediately I went to the website and they had some left! And they were even on sale! Double win.

These pictures were taken during the day trip to Montreal on the weekend. We had lots of fun, but found that we didn't really have much time. I think it would have worked out better if we had taken a later bus home, or we had gotten a place to stay for the night. Oh well, it was cheaper this way and was still fun!  I got some wonderfully successful shopping done, and you guys will see some of it up on my blog soon I hope!

P.s. Thanks for the nail care suggestions! I had no idea what to do and you guys have given me some great ideas. Thanks, you're all the best :)
