Turning it around.

Zellers top; Dynamite pants; Le Chateau shoes

I've been feeling a little down these last few weeks. There are so many little things that have contributed to it, and most of them I can't control.  However, I'm finally starting to figure out how to turn it around through other parts of my life.

First of all, I've started eating a lot better. A fridge stocked full of fruits and vegetables makes me feel awesome. Eating fresh food has such a big impact on my mood and I've noticed myself craving more and more fresh food and vegetables. This week I finally got off my butt and did something about it.

Secondly, I'm going to the gym more often. Every 2nd day to be exact. I'm starting to see more toned muscle, which is really fun. It's neat how your body changes for the better when you stick to a routine workout schedule. It's acting as my motivation to keep going, which rocks.

Lastly, I've been exploring new things. For example, my music collection. Ever since I was little I have disliked country music. Growing up in the country it was so typical of everyone to love it. I guess "daring to be different", I never gave it a chance. But you know what? This past week I downloaded myself some country. Just because I felt like it. I was pleasantly surprised. I know it sounds silly, but exploring new things like this is awesome. I'm learning about myself and I'm finding new things to love.

When you're having a tough week, what do you do to make yourself feel better?

  1. Good for you for sticking to the exercise routine - you look great! Isn't it crazy how quickly you become addicted to it!

  2. Love your sweater Kelly - especially with those bright blue pants! And food for you - eating better and working out! When I work out, it definitely boosts my energy and makes me feel better...sometimes it's tough to drag myself to the gym though :)

  3. Love the cobalt pants with the chunky sweater! I think it's awesome that you're taking steps to put yourself in a better frame of mind. I find that little things can really boost your mood. When I'm feeling down, I like to take Oliver for a long walk along the beach...seeing him get all excited makes me happy and there's nothing more soothing than watching the waves. :)

PS This is a particularly enjoyable outfit. From where does your necklace collection come?

    1. Thank you! My necklaces come from so many different and random locations. Specifically in this post they were from Forever 21, but the moonstone one was a gift :)

  5. I felt the same way about country for the longest time. It just felt so cheesy and, well, lame and honky-tonk. But recently I've been loving country, especially The Band Perry! Who have you been listening to?

    1. I've really gotten into Lady Antebellum but I should listen to The Band Perry - I know a bunch of people who love them. Thanks for the tip! :)

  7. exploring new things is always great! I think Country music is one genre that I could never get into, maybe I should give it another shot.

You look great! LOVE those cobalt pants.

  8. I don't want to deny your eating better solution (which is of course, true and great). But if I'm not feeling too good, I always have some emergency chocolate. Otherwise I will bake. Most of the time, the baking itself is enough so I can bring it to friends or at work and make other people happy.

Otherwise, just plain doing something fun for myself, something I like to do. Could be shopping, making crafts, watching a cheesy movie, eating sushi or something like that. :)

    1. Oh yes, I have a HUGE sweet tooth. Believe me, although I'm eating my fruits and veggies, I still indulge in some junk food. It's impossible to eliminate it altogether!

Also, I love baking but I just never get off my butt and do it. I should bring cookies to work or something :) Thanks for the ideas!
