I never knew when this day would come, but a couple weeks ago it hit me...
I'm not enjoying this anymore.
I love blogging, but I feel like this blog has turned into something I am not. I'm not all about outfit posts and clothes. I can't afford to shop all the time and follow all the latest trends that I'd like to. I feel like I've been constantly battling with myself about how to keep my blog creative without buying new things all the time. I know it's not fair because I really don't need new clothes to keep this blog fun, but I feel like I've dug myself a hole and I can't get out of it.
I'm not giving up on blogging - no, that's not what's happening. I'm just going to be making some changes:
The content. Yes, you will see OOTD posts - I can't give up on those entirely, but they will only be outfits that I love. I won't force myself to post just for the sake of posting.
This blog will be much more about me, what inspires me, and things I've been enjoying. Fashion and especially otherwise.
You'll get a better look at my thoughts, feelings and life.
This blog will be much more about me, what inspires me, and things I've been enjoying. Fashion and especially otherwise.
You'll get a better look at my thoughts, feelings and life.
The look will change soon. New content, new feel, new design.
I will no longer post every day. My rigid schedule has started to get in the way of my happiness. Time to step back a little bit and enjoy it.
I understand if these changes don't interest you. This new phase will probably take a much more personal look into my life, and I get it if that's not what you're here for. But for those of you who want to stick around, you are all wonderful and I am grateful that you're willing to take this journey with me.Please bare with me as I go through the challenges of this transition. I promise I'll be back soon :)
Authenticity in blogging is always the best way to go. Readers appreciate honesty and personality. I think everyone will love the direction you're taking. Good luck my friend! I know it will be great!
ReplyDeleteThanks :) I appreciate the support!
DeleteI love this Kelly! I was totally in the same boat as you are now about 6 months ago and have then stepped away from blogging. It shouldn't feel forced! I plan on coming back with a whole new layout and new thought about blogging!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with everything, I check your blog everyday so good to know you're returning :)
- Kyla
Awe thanks Kyla!! I hope you come back soon! :)
DeleteI thought you were gonna say your done, I was like nooo lol You know I'm.sticking around! Blogging should be fun, can't wait to ready more about you!
ReplyDeleteNope! Not giving up that easy ;) Thanks for the support :)
DeleteUm, that's awesome. You need to do blogging for you, not anyone else. I think bloggers are more interesting when they are down to earth and show a personal side of themselves. While I do love outfit posts, I wonder how any person that's not famous-rich can keep up with posting new outfits every day. -Jessica L
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica, I've just started to realize I wasn't doing it for myself anymore and I'm glad to make the change. And yes, it's hard to keep your wardrobe super current while doing OOTD posts every day. Time to back down a little bit and save some $$!
DeleteChanges are good. If you don't like where you are now, change it! I'm glad that you realized it, and that you're taking your blog in a direction that will bring you more happiness. because at the end of the day... that's what matters in your blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alyx :) I appreciate the support!
DeleteFeeling like you're not enjoying it anymore is definitely a sign that change is needed! You're blogging for you, so you've gotta do whatever you get the most satisfaction out of. And of course that's going to change over the years! Can't wait to see what happens next :)
ReplyDeleteLife etc
Good for you! I've been going through a similar struggle lately (it seems like a lot of bloggers do after a year or two of posting), so I totally feel you. Posting less, and about a wider variety of topics, usually seems to do the trick :)
ReplyDeleteRemember, this is YOUR blog. Yes, it's important to recognize that you have an audience, but if you're not enjoying it, then it's not worth doing. Can't wait to see what you have in store :)
I've enjoyed reading your blog and I'm glad you aren't going anywhere just yet. Change is good. I remember one time you posted a really great cookie recipe and I thought, 'Wow, this girl is fashionable and loves Candy Cane Christmas Cookies! I like her.'
ReplyDeleteI look forward to the new blog. :)
Kudos to you for following your heart and your instincts! Will be continuing to follow along!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel. I'm in the process of changing things up on FabAve because of some changes and I'm eager to get with the upgrade just don't know how to go about it. Might just have to be a sudden thing.
ReplyDeleteI'm sticking with you:)
I completely understand - sometimes blogging feels like a chore, so taking a step back to re-analyze is a great thing (I've done it more than a few times myself!)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to checking out your new, revamped site, in whatever form in takes :) Good luck!

Glad to see you are still sticking around! I went through a similar experience where I changed the name, mission, and overall focus of my blog. So, I feel ya all the way! Hopefully by making the changes you have made your blog will feel more like yourself.
