FASHION BLOGGER'S FORMULA.

Thanks to my cousin Renee for the photos.

In today's instalment of "what's in Kelly's apartment", I show you my "shoe rack".
It's more of a shoe pile and less of a shoe rack but who's counting?
Plus I haven't quite flipped my fall shoes for summer. I have all seasons on there right now. So it's a bit of everything.
And it's a disaster.
So instead, I ask that you look at my outfit.
At least it's a little cleaner and makes a bit more sense.

p.s. I didn't go blonde. Just the terrible lighting in the apartment.

Monday blues.

Gap cardigan & top; American Eagle jeans; Walmart moccasins

...because there's lots of blue in this outfit.
What a real knee-slapper! Am I right?
Note to self: Don't write blog posts at 5:30 am. You tell bad jokes.

Happy Monday everyone!

Mustard.

It's not just for burgers and hot dogs.
It's also for wearing.
Not real mustard, obvs...
But seriously, anyone who doesn't have a mustard-coloured something in their closet is styling wrong.
I hated this colour up until last year when I took the plunge with a cardigan (different than this one.. yeah I have two...)
But I've fallen in love with it. It's so completely fall, and reminds me of the changing leaves.
Speaking of which, there are too many leaves on the ground already and it's not even October. What gives?!

FALL: Style.

Gap jeans; Old Navy tank; Call it Spring scarf; Walmart shoes; Castellammare jewellery

Comfy sweater? Check.
Moccasins? Check.
Big scarf? Check.

Cooler weather, bring it on.

My best accessory.

My best accessory: Charlie.

He often goes by the names:
Charlie-bear, Charles, Charles Barker, Charlie Choo, Choo, Choo-Choo
...
I've probably given him a complex.

No words.

Forever 21 plaid top; American Eagle pants; Mom's old sweater; Old Navy scarf; Giant Tiger moccasins

Sometimes I sit here to write a post and no words come.
Like today.
I guess that's okay, we all go through it.

Polka-dot sweater.

Forever 21 sweater; Winners pants; Giant Tiger moccasins

This sweater is my new favourite. Why? Well, it's got polka dots for one. Secondly, it's actually thick enough that I don't need a second sweater on top of it. Thirdly, it has buttons up the back like a backwards cardigan. I tried to take a photo but it didn't turn out well. I'll try again next time.

Last night I got to hand out Halloween candy. When I was younger, my house used to get 80-100 kids trick-or-treating. This year? 20. That's it. The downside? I feel like I'm living in a retirement community. The upside? I get all this candy to myself. Oh wait, maybe that's a downside...

Did you get trick-or-treaters?

Mondays.

Forever 21 cardigan; Dynamite top; American Eagle pants; Old Navy scarf; Giant Tiger moccasins

It's Monday. That sucks.

You know what doesn't suck? Polka-dots, mustard yellow and green together.

This outfit is bringing a little happiness to my sucky Monday. Anything helping you get through yours?

The joys of shopping.

American Eagle sweater; Old Navy gingham; Winners pants; Giant Tiger moccasins

I have officially finished my 1-month shopping ban. I went to the mall with a friend yesterday to celebrate, with the intention of bulking up some of my fall wardrobe. I've had the whole month to think about pieces I really wanted, and not just kinda wanted. I had a few ideas in mind.

Then I got to the mall.

And only returned with a pair of boots.

At least the boots were on my list, but there were a few other things I was looking for that I just couldn't find. Fur vest? Didn't have my size. Cream coloured blouse? Too expensive. Big cable-knit cream coloured sweater? Didn't exist.

Why is it that when I can spend the money, I can't find what I'm looking for? Oh, at least I was able to pick up some insoles... I had needed those for a long time now. whoop-dee-doo......

Leather jacket & Trouser jeans.

Dynamite faux-leather jacket; GAP trouser jeans; Forever 21 t-shirt; Giant Tiger moccasins

The good thing about gaining back weight after you lose it, is you can fit into your old pants! My pants wardrobe has grown by a couple of styles recently - ones that I had put away when I lost a bit of weight last winter. Thankfully I kept them. These trouser jeans especially are still a favourite of mine :)

On a completely different note, I don't watch much TV (my mom records everything so really there's no opportunity to watch what I want), except The Office. This is the first season in 4 that I can actually watch every Thursday night. But what do I do last night? FORGET. I forgot to watch The Office. And, consequently, The Big Bang Theory. I'm very very sad this morning... Time for me to go find it playing at a later time and tape it. Just like my mom.

TGIF!

Pumpkin orange.

Forever 21 sweater (similar); American Eagle jeans; Giant Tiger moccasins (similar)

Twice, now, I have gone out for photos and someone has come along walking their dog. Right in the middle of the shoot. These people (in the background) came around the corner half-way through and I just smiled, waved, and said hi. No questions were asked. That's good. How do you explain a style blog to people who barely know what a blog is? I mean.. I assume they don't know, but I guess maybe they do. Either way they probably don't know what a style blog is.

I love the colour orange for fall. It reminds me of pumpkins and spices and the changing leave. I need more orange in my wardrobe, I think - this sweater is all I have. I should fix that soon... Oh! And my shopping ban is lifted in 1 week! This is so wonderful, my credit card has praised me this past month. Well, dear credit card, next month you won't know what hit you ;)

Morning hair & my Canadian Tux.

Suzy Shier denim jacket (similar); H&M printed top (similar); Forever 21 scarf; Giant Tiger moccasins (similar); American Eagle denim

Morning hair is fun. It's like a box of Bertie Bott's every-flavour-beans - you never know what you're going to get. Sometimes it's a tangled rat-nest, as if while you were sleeping some animal was trying to make a home in your hair. Other mornings it just... is. Like today. I woke up and didn't touch it, and it looked completely normal. Sometimes you just get lucky, I guess. Those days are a blessing because I take one look at myself and decide to snooze for another 10 minutes. Yessssss.
Did you catch that Harry Potter reference? Was it just me? Okay...

Check out my denim-on-denim outfit in true Canadian fashion. I guess this is what they call a "Canadian Tuxedo". Well gosh, I AM Canadian. All I need to add here is my chambray top and I think I would have an amped-up version of the Canadian Tuxedo... But don't worry, I won't subject your eyes to THAT much denim. I'll just leave you with this outfit. Thank you, leopard print top, for making my Canadian Tuxedo look a little nicer than the ugliness it sounds like.

Flannel and Moccasins.

So my junk food ban was a success! It ended on Sunday and I didn't even have the urge to eat much sugar. I had a couple pieces of dark chocolate after dinner and that was that.  It's satisfying to know that I don't need sugar as much as I felt that I did before I started the challenge. I feel good :)

I'm keeping this short because I'm exhausted after this weekend. Not much sleep on Saturday night meant going to bed last night at 8. My body is not very happy with me right now... Time for a day at work!
