I have lots to smile about.

Today's one of those days when you realize what you have and how incredibly lucky you are.  I'm grateful for so many things and so many people in my life. My family, my friends and those who are looking out for me even when I don't realize it. I'm lucky to have food, shelter and freedom.  I'm grateful for the opportunities I've been given and chances I've been able to take. But more than anything, I'm fortunate to be able to live, breathe and be human.

What are you grateful for?

Blogger Spotlight: Melody of Happiness & Love

This month I've got another Blogger Spotlight for you all. Today I'm featuring Melody from Happiness & Love. I remember having only 10 followers on this little blog of mine and Melody was one of them. She's such a sweetheart and has stuck around after all this time! I love her sense of style and I find myself looking to her for inspiration these days. Melody, take it away!

Hey! First I want to say that I am so excited Kelly asked me to be a guest blogger! She is definitely one of my favorites, so I was happy she thought of me when putting together her blogger spotlight series. Thanks Kelly! : )

My name is Melody and I blog over at Happiness & Love. I usually do outfit post featuring pieces from my small wardrobe, mix in some DIYs, and also inspiration post. Having a small wardrobe and limited budget, I've learned to mix & match what I have and make it work. I like to share that with everyone and hopefully inspire other people. : )

Lately, if I do get something new, it's usually from a thrift store or a gift from Josh (my bf). For Christmas Josh bought me faux leather pants, because I had been going on and on about how I want to try them out. But I'm not going to lie, when I first saw leather leggings/pants all over the place, I thought they were cute but where in the world would I wear leather pants!? I saw everyone wearing them with heels and dressed up. Since I don't normally wear heel unless I'm going out, I didn't know if I could pull it off, but that wasn't going to stop me from trying. That's why I love fashion, you don't have to wear it exactly the same way everyone else is. Fashion is fun & you should try new things!  ; )

So here is my look on leather pants.

Hope you like it. Come by and visit me

p.s. Isn't that outfit the greatest? I'm seriously dying over her pants...

EBEW & BDIB: Red (+ Pink)

Guys, this is bold for me. I'm still not sure I'm loving this look, but I tried to gather all the red and pink I own and this is all there was. I've never loved red on me, and pink is somehow rare in my closet. I must change this soon...

Today I'm linking up with TWO challenges - EBEW's Red & Pink and BDIB's Red. Colour challenges are fun because almost anyone can participate in them. I think you get so much creativity because people can use completely different articles of clothing to create the red & pink combination. There's the subtle addition of colourful accessories, or the bold head-to-toe combination. So much chance for inspiration along the way :)

Pink + Red | Everybody, Everywear

A little bird told me.

This is my first printed top, thanks Old Navy for pulling through for me! I missed the printed blouse trend that was so big last fall, but now I have one of my own! Hopefully this trend continues through spring, because I think these little prints are so freaking cute. Check out these little birdies!

Though the shirt is really static-y. Is there a trick or something to make it stop clinging to me? Does anyone know? I'm tired of touching things and getting shocked.

Also, can you tell Ottawa has recently gone through a thaw period? Seriously, it's the best. I can finally go outside in something OTHER than huge clunky boots! And I can see the road again! It's fabbity-fab. It really feels like winter is slowly retreating, maybe it'll surrender early this year?

P-inspired for Spring

First of all, I want to thank you all for your comments last post. You guys are too sweet and I'm so glad I have such wonderful and supportive readers :)  Seriously, you guys are the best.

Anyways, I'm tired of parkas and snow boots already. Come to think of it, I was tired of parkas and snow boots before it even snowed.  This is definitely reflected through my recent Pinterest pins. We're getting warmer than average weather here, but the snow is nowhere near melted and it's still pretty darn cold!

Here are five reasons why I'm excited for spring:

1. Open, light-weight jacket, sneakers

2. No jacket, open-toed shoes

3. A crisp white top in the sunlight

4. Breaking out the bare legs (& my leo print flats!)

5. Cuffed pants & colours.

What are you most excited about for spring?

I got a job.

For some reason these pics turned out a little out-of-focus, but I wasn't up for re-shooting the outfit. It was a busy day!

Costco blazer; H&M shirt; AE pants; Walmart boots

One month after I finishing my degree, I have landed a job with a company that I interned for about 4 years back. This is why networking is important, people! I know I'm super lucky to have had the opportunity to intern for them, and even though it was YEARS ago, I was still able to network my way into and interview, and consequently a job.

I'm super excited to start working, but that might mean a bit of a lag on the blog. I normally shoot my outfits in the middle of the day, and without work, I'm able to wear whatever I want. Now, my 9-5 will be business-casual and I don't know how much natural light I'll be able to get during the week. I hope not much will change but please bare with me while I work out the kinks over the next few weeks. :) If you've got any tips, feel free to share!!!

Did you guys have a wonderful weekend? Mine was pretty fab - I mean, finding out I'm now employed is pretty awesome news. What did you all do?

Going out.

This is just a simple outfit that I wore out the other night. These leggings are amazing. They look like leather, but they're not; they have a super faint snakeskin print that you can't see; and they are really light-weight so if you're in a hot spot, they won't keep in the heat like leather would.

I spent the night at a city bar for a charity fundraiser. Bands were playing and I was in the company of some good friends. Its nice to have nights out with friends, especially now that I'm living with my parents again. I really miss the company of other people my age.

Today I'm linking up with Kayla's 10-day challenge! I don't have many fashion fears, but it took guts to wear these pants! They attract attention, that's for sure - they're so shiny!

Do you guys have any fashion fears? Check out the others here!
