EBEW & BDIB: Red (+ Pink)

Guys, this is bold for me. I'm still not sure I'm loving this look, but I tried to gather all the red and pink I own and this is all there was. I've never loved red on me, and pink is somehow rare in my closet. I must change this soon...

Winners jeans; Joe Fresh top; Spring boots

Today I'm linking up with TWO challenges - EBEW's Red & Pink and BDIB's Red. Colour challenges are fun because almost anyone can participate in them. I think you get so much creativity because people can use completely different articles of clothing to create the red & pink combination. There's the subtle addition of colourful accessories, or the bold head-to-toe combination. So much chance for inspiration along the way :)

BDIB: Maxing out

Today I'm participating in the Bloggers Do It Better maxi skirt "challenge".

^ Awkward pose! Heh.

I think this is only the second time I've styled this maxi skirt on my blog, but it's not the second time I've worn it.  I wasn't sure how to wear it to work, so I waited until a casual Friday and threw on a plain white tee, belted the outfit, and added a fun necklace.  I opted for leopard print shoes to add a fun print, and to avoid the walking problems that would come with heels.  Those walking problems are a direct result of this skirt's size. It's not very flow-y and I can't take full strides, so it would be super difficult to wear it with anything but flats.

Fun fact: I used the back of some random person's car to take these photos in my apartment parking lot. My usual spot was filled with people walking by, so I went somewhere a little more quiet. I'm lucky they didn't come out to get their car, or that would have been really fun to explain...

American Prep Menswear for BDIB

I'm a terrible blogger and didn't participate in the last Bloggers Do It Better challenge (White-out) even though I promised I would.  This time, I made sure to.

Welcome to Kelly's interpretation of American Prep Menswear:

Shirt from Old Navy; Cardigan from Gap; Pants from Ricki's; Shoes from Aldo; Tie from boyfriend's collection

I originally had a blazer with this look, but I decided to take it off. It took away from the fun tie+gingham combination and was a little too much for me. Or maybe I was just crazy.

But I love how this outfit turned out. It was so much fun taking these pictures, and the boyfriend was getting into it too. =) I've never worn a tie, so this was a first for me! You know what else was a first? This successful top-bun that I could actually go out in. And do you know how long it took me to make this one? 3 seconds flat. Do you know how I did it? Because I don't. I grabbed hair, put an elastic around it, and somehow it worked.  Too bad I'll never be able to do it again.

Yay for BDIB! Can't wait to see the rest of your looks!
