INDIGO.

Winners sweater; Dynamite jegging; Forever 21 shoes; Call it Spring scarf

I was on a mission to find high-waisted, indigo jeggings. I hate wearing a belt and I just wanted some pants that required no fuss. With a gift card and cash from my birthday, I was ready to drop some serious $$ on a great pair of designer jeans. Well, I tried a bunch on, and none were quite "right".

Defeated, I walked into Dynamite and saw these high-waisted pants. I thought to myself, there's no way.... But alas, they were perfect. The real test was how they'd hold up after a few wears.

Three outfits later and no washing, I can say they STILL hold up above my hips without a belt. Even though they have a generous stretch (giving them that jegging feel), the waist hasn't bagged out. Hallelujah! Now, not sure how these will wash since I haven't tried yet, but for about 1/4 of the price of designer jeans, I'm pretty satisfied so far :)

Also these shots are a couple weeks old.. It is now a winter wonderland and there's no way my bare ankles would survive!

Breezy for the beach.

Quick and breezy beach outfit from the other day.
Apparently I have a thing for crop tops right now.
And short shorts.

High-low cut.

A high-low cut. Best found on a knit.
Thank you, Winners, for the awesome find.
It'll make a great transition piece :)

Winter red.

Vest: The Bay (Material Girl)
Top: H&M
Pants: Winners
Boots: Le Chateau

"Be festive", they say.
So I wear red pants.

Polka-dot sweater.

Forever 21 sweater; Winners pants; Giant Tiger moccasins

This sweater is my new favourite. Why? Well, it's got polka dots for one. Secondly, it's actually thick enough that I don't need a second sweater on top of it. Thirdly, it has buttons up the back like a backwards cardigan. I tried to take a photo but it didn't turn out well. I'll try again next time.

Last night I got to hand out Halloween candy. When I was younger, my house used to get 80-100 kids trick-or-treating. This year? 20. That's it. The downside? I feel like I'm living in a retirement community. The upside? I get all this candy to myself. Oh wait, maybe that's a downside...

Did you get trick-or-treaters?

The joys of shopping.

American Eagle sweater; Old Navy gingham; Winners pants; Giant Tiger moccasins

I have officially finished my 1-month shopping ban. I went to the mall with a friend yesterday to celebrate, with the intention of bulking up some of my fall wardrobe. I've had the whole month to think about pieces I really wanted, and not just kinda wanted. I had a few ideas in mind.

Then I got to the mall.

And only returned with a pair of boots.

At least the boots were on my list, but there were a few other things I was looking for that I just couldn't find. Fur vest? Didn't have my size. Cream coloured blouse? Too expensive. Big cable-knit cream coloured sweater? Didn't exist.

Why is it that when I can spend the money, I can't find what I'm looking for? Oh, at least I was able to pick up some insoles... I had needed those for a long time now. whoop-dee-doo......

Sweater dresses and random facts.

I totally stole this fun post idea from Corinne at Life, etc. Mostly because she's awesome and comes up with better post ideas than I do ;) But I gotta tell ya, this took FOREVER. It's so hard to answer things like this about myself...

Eyes: nine celebrity crushes: I've recently discussed my three girl crushes: Kate Beckinsale, Rachel McAdams and Emma Stone. As for the men, these days I'd have to say Christian Bale, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Gosling, Jim Sturgess, John Krasinski and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Ears: eight favourite sounds: Crickets when I'm going to sleep. The birds chirping when I wake up. The crackling of a fire place. The leaves crunching beneath my feet in the fall. Christmas music. My best friend's laugh (it's seriously contagious). Thunderstorms. Old favourite songs that I haven't heard in years.

Nose: seven favourite scents. Fall (it's one awesome smell). Mom's baking on Christmas. A random body spray I got from Dynamite, I don't even know what it's called.  Peppermint. Coffee shops. Men's cologne. Freshly mowed grass.

Mouth: six favourite sayings. Don't be like the rest of them, darling. All you need is health and happiness. The best is yet to come. There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind. Love fearlessly.  Live, laugh, love.

Heart: five things you love. My family. My best friends. Music - I don't know what I would do without it, it's like my therapy. Chocolate anything (except chocolate cake, somehow that kinda sucks). Laughing.

Hands: four things you've created that you're proud of. A dress that I sewed last year. My blog. A mini documentary I made of my favourite summer, years ago.  The paths I've taken so far in life.

Stomach: three comfort foods. Chocolate (of course). Pasta. My mom's cream of mushroom & corn soup - I dislike mushrooms but still think it rocks.

Knees: two things that make you go weak in the knees. Raw and uncensored emotion - happy or sad. Surprises.

Feet: one thing you want to accomplish in life. Appreciate all of the little moments in life, so that I can look back with no regrets. It's an ongoing thing :)

Neglected.

Gap cardigan; H&M tank and scarf; Winners pants; Payless shoes

It makes me sad when I unintentionally neglect certain pieces in my closet. Every time I get dressed, I overlook them and I don't know why.

The other day I reminded myself that I have red pants; somehow I had forgotten about them. The following morning, I woke up and created an outfit around them.

In addition to the red pants, I bought this scarf last year and have only worn it twice. I think it was time I added it to another outfit.

Do you ever forget you own certain things?

If you really knew me...

I'm sure everyone has seen these floating around the blogsphere, but I figured I'd take part in this one. It's a little more fun than just talking about clothes all the time.

If you really knew me...

... You'd know that in the car I listen to my music REALLY loud (like max volume). I also tend to sing along to said music really REALLY loudly. And no, I cannot sing.

... You'd know I have a fear of stepping on frogs. I hate walking through long grass because I'm always worried I'll step on a frog or a snake. I've made people piggy-back me before because I almost lost it. Not exactly a proud moment.

Old Navy blouse; Gap cardigan; Winners pants; ALDO shoes

... You'd know I'm a crazy cat-lady. Sometimes my friend and I text pictures of our cats back and forth. I gush about how my cat tries to bite my bathroom wall and she shows me pictures of her cat sleeping in garbage cans. A video chat may be in the works so our cats can meet, too. We're very very cool.

... You'd know I always over-cook my meat. Food poisoning is the worst thing in the world, and after having it enough I have a fear of uncooked meat. I also try and avoid meat-based fast food meals as much as I can. I just don't trust it.

Whew - that was fun! I'd love to hear any "if you really knew me" posts from you guys - if you happen to write one, you should link it up in the comments so I can go read it. They're fun :)

A top 3 list, but not about fashion.

On Sunday I went to see Total Recall with my mom. We're awesome and go to movies together, it rocks. And then there she was - Kate Beckinsale. No, not at the movie theatre, but on the big screen...

See, I have a top 3 list. A list of the top three Hollywood actresses that I have girl crushes on. I like men, but you know, girls have girl crushes too. These are my three:

1. Rachel McAdams. Stunning. I just watched The Notebook over the weekend and sometimes had a hard time figuring out who to stare at: her or Ryan Gosling. Seriously.

2. Kate Beckinsale. Since her role in Pearl Harbour, I have been one of her biggest fans. She just has such perfect facial features, and her hair...my god, how is her hair always so perfect?

3. Emma Stone - the striking red-head. Though she can pull off brown quite nicely, I'm not sure how I feel about the blonde...

Now, if you asked me to list my top 3 Hollywood actors, I would have to tell you I haven't ever thought about it. Maybe I'll go think about it now and report back to you guys another time.

Happy Tuesday!

Red and white.

This would have been a pretty great Canada Day outfit. Ah well, maybe next year! I've been looking for more ways to wear my red pants, and I don't know why but I seem to be turning to simple t-shirts lately. There's just something about a plain tee that is so comfortable, easy and breezy.

I just finished reading Fifty Shades of Grey and now I'm only the second book in the trilogy. It was a surprisingly interesting read, aside from the whole erotica theme. The main character, Christian Grey, is super interesting to learn about and I'm excited to read the rest of the series over the next while.

After this though, I am looking for more books to read. Anyone got any good suggestions?

Extra long weekend.

Costa Blanca top; Winners jeans; Forever 21 shoes

Finally I got the courage to wear my green pants to work last week! I figured casual Friday was a good place to start. I paired them with a light top to keep it simple and breezy in this crazy summer heat. The pop of fun came from my polkadot shoes. LOVE.

So guys, I'm taking an extended long weekend off from blogging. It's Canada Day weekend for us and I'm heading up to a cottage Saturday to Monday with a bunch of friends. To take a bit of a break, I'm starting my blog-less weekend on Friday. I will be without wifi over the weekend (likely) and won't be blogging (and probably not checking blogs), but I will definitely still be on twitter (yay for iPhones!). I shall be back on Tuesday to resume my regularly scheduled posting.

I hope everyone has an amazing weekend, a happy Thursday, and a happy Friday tomorrow :)

EBEW: Neon.

H&M top, shoes; Winners pants; Fossil watch

The only problem with the gym: your legs get bigger.

Although this is a good thing (because I'm being active and healthy), it's annoying when my pants get too tight. Like these ones. I feel like the hulk about to burst out of some of my jeans. This is no good. And I'm not going to stop going to the gym, so I guess I need to figure out how to stretch these or retire them...

Aside from my legs, there's some neon in this outfit. Mostly because I'm linking up with EBEW's neon challenge. Woooooooooooooo! I bought this shirt at H&M a couple months ago and it's one of my favourite tees at the moment. The baggy cut, wide neck and rolled up sleeves rock. I think this top was $10? Steeeeeal. Although, I feel like a bit of a watermelon in this outfit. Pink, green, and spots of black. Hmm...

There's a lack of colour here.

American Eagle skinnies; Forever 21 tank; Winners cardigan; Payless wedges

The only colour in this entire look is coming from my cork soles, pink toenails and rose-gold watch. And I kinda like it. As much as this spring is all about colour, I do like the classic blank-and-white outfit every once in a while. Also, I'm so glad I've found some great ways to pull off these white pants at work. I always feel like white attracts attention and while I'm at work I want to tone that down as much as I can. Paired with black, it's a much more neutral look that doesn't scream "look at me!"

Does anyone else feel this way about white pants? Am I just crazy?

Also, you rock if you know what song inspired my post title.
