Awkward search-words.

Smart Set jacket (similar); Dynamite printed top; Forever 21 skinny cords (similar); Sirens boots

You know when you check your daily stats, sometimes you come across really interesting "keywords" that people searched and ended up on your blog? Well some are expected (i.e. enter kelly) and some are funny. Others are just plain... weird?

Here are some of the awkward ones people have used recently, and in doing so, came across my blog:

Leather glove cuties: Last winter I had a series about what to wear during Canadian winters.  In my "on your hands" post, I wrote about my favourite leather gloves and how they were a necessity. But this is just creepy, and I'm sure this person did not find what they were looking for.

Style men's wedge boot: well, I've never worn or styled a men's wedge boot. I don't even think I've ever seen a men's wedge boot. Good luck finding out how to style it :)

Very pale legs: Yes, whoever you are, you found someone with very pale legs. Now, why were you searching very pale legs? Either you need reassurance you're not the only one with ghostly thighs, or ... nah, don't want to think about it anymore.

Do you notice any weird search-words that lead people to your blog?

Morning hair & my Canadian Tux.

Morning hair is fun. It's like a box of Bertie Bott's every-flavour-beans - you never know what you're going to get. Sometimes it's a tangled rat-nest, as if while you were sleeping some animal was trying to make a home in your hair. Other mornings it just... is. Like today. I woke up and didn't touch it, and it looked completely normal. Sometimes you just get lucky, I guess. Those days are a blessing because I take one look at myself and decide to snooze for another 10 minutes. Yessssss.
Did you catch that Harry Potter reference? Was it just me? Okay...

Check out my denim-on-denim outfit in true Canadian fashion. I guess this is what they call a "Canadian Tuxedo". Well gosh, I AM Canadian. All I need to add here is my chambray top and I think I would have an amped-up version of the Canadian Tuxedo... But don't worry, I won't subject your eyes to THAT much denim. I'll just leave you with this outfit. Thank you, leopard print top, for making my Canadian Tuxedo look a little nicer than the ugliness it sounds like.

Cow or Dalmatian?

Sometimes I make funny poses and I really don't know how they happen. I'm transitioning from one pose to the next and BAM - awkward moment captured. Like that last one right there. This is real life, kids. Just keepin' it real around here. I should do an outtakes post soon.

Also, I can't decide on this print: cow or dalmatian? I mean, the whole time I was thinking cow, and then a friend points out that the spots are too small to be a cow and it's really a dalmatian print. I'm starting to think she's right. Whatever print it may be, the high-low cut sold me on this top. That and the material. It's so light-weight and a perfect transition piece as the days get a little cooler. Wait, who am I kidding? That won't happen for a at least a month at this rate.

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend :)

Storms and Power and Stuff.

Sorry for the brief hiatus. I know, it was only a day but it sort of felt like a lifetime. I so badly wanted to post yesterday morning but alas, the world was against me.

Monday afternoon we had some crazy storms go through our area. There were even tornado warnings. Sometimes we get warnings, but we never actually get tornadoes. Once when I was 5 I remember hiding in my basement, but that was the last time anything ever happened. Anyways. I got home from work to branches and leaves all over the streets, and a tree was down one road away from my house. The power went out and it wanted to stay out.  A friend of mine had some school work she had to submit so we went to a Starbucks and stole their internet. Assuming the power would come on that evening or overnight, I didn't write a post.

Well, the power came on at 4am, but the internet did not. So I left you guys with no post yesterday. This is my story to explain why. Don't worry, it wasn't a tornado that went through our area, just some crazy winds and hail and rain. I consider myself pretty lucky to never have extreme weather like that, I don't know what I'd do if I saw an actual tornado...

Happy Wednesday lovely readers!

Affordable style.

Forever 21 cardigan and top; H&M pants; Zellers shoes

Here's a work outfit from last week. Both the top and pants were new purchases that I really shouldn't have bought but couldn't walk away from. Seriously - they were steals. 10$ for a cute heart-printed tank? $15 for a pair of high-waisted stretchy denim? Um, yes please. That kind of stuff sucks me in. I'm a sucker for super affordable style.

The same day I bought these "bank-breakers", my friend took me into Holt Refrew and asked for my opinion on some designer sunglasses. Well folks, she looked fabulous in those glasses but the price was ca-ray-zay.  I know many people who like to invest in long-lasting quality pieces, and I can definitely appreciate their reasons, but I haven't hit that point yet. I'm still loving my $15 pants and $5 sunnies from the clearance bin at Aldo. I'll show you those babies another time. :)

What drives your shopping? Quality, price or both?

Packing.

Ugh, I think I'm starting a cold again. The dry cough is back and I don't know why. In some ways I feel like my cold from a few weeks ago never fully went away. This is not fair, I just want to feel better!

I have to pack tonight for Montreal. I'm only gone for two days but I really have to consider the things I need versus the things I want to bring. Bussing with tonnes of stuff is never fun. The weatherman is calling for cool but sunny days for Saturday and Sunday...

What would you pack?  Do you have any wise packing strategies?
