Snow & Sparkle.

The pretty snowflakes interfered with my photo-sesh. See all the little white blurs? Oh well, I forgive them because they're pretty :)

But my sweater is sparkly! It has sparkly thread woven into the knit, and I find it's a great way to dress up an otherwise "simple" outfit :) I love the zipper at the back too. This was one of my xmas presents from Line and I'm totally in love.

Also, I need someone to be proud of me - I'm going to the gym for the first time in 8 months. With school and a long list of excuses, I hadn't been keeping myself active, but now I have no excuses! My priority is job searching and that leaves me with a bit of time for a gym membership finally!  Yay for feeling healthy again :)

And because I've had other questions about how I take my photos and whether or not I photoshop them: At this point I'm using the automatic settings on my camera. I have an idea of what the manual settings do, but I haven't practiced enough to completely understand how they all work together. With time, I'm sure I'll use them always. Also, I do use iPhoto for photo editing (super basic) and will sometimes lighten the pictures or increase the saturation if they don't turn out as I want, but that's about it. I just got Photoshop Elements and still have to learn how to use it :)

The coziest scarf probably ever.

This one. First of all, it's plaid. I love plaid. Second, it's SO SOFT. It's like heaven around your neck. And it's big and long and totally rocks. Did I mention it's plaid?

Please ignore the tag I forgot to take off the scarf in my last photo. Also I was having a lazy day and didn't feel like doing my hair. You know what I mean, not enough time to get ready = bun & bobby pins. We all know it happens. Maybe it happens to me a little too frequently but that's okay!

I had a few more questions about my camera and/or tripod from the last post. I'm really sorry guys, I do a horrible job of explaining these things I guess! Here are some answers:

What camera do you use? I just got a Canon Rebel T2i as a graduation gift and I'm 100% in love. I just use the standard lens that comes with it for now, since I'm new to the dSLRs and feel it would be best to understand what I'm doing before switching anything up.

What kind of tripod do you use? Here's the thing - I didn't really know there were different kinds of tripods... The one that I have isn't a brand name, it's from Black's Photography in Canada. At the bottom of my camera there's a place where something can screw in. The tripod comes with the piece that screws into the bottom of the camera. I think it's a standard size too - it extends to be tall, but can also be short (so descriptive...).

If you have anymore questions feel free to ask!

Neutrals.

Today it just seemed natural to choose neutrals, heh heh.

And here is almost half of my boxing-day haul.  These 'jeggings' (which are like soft denim) and this sweater are new. I love how the sweater is just slightly cropped - it adds some fun to the outfit! AE was awesome this year - 40% off your entire purchase! I should've bought more...

In the last post a couple of you asked about the tripod and/or remote. I bought the tripod at Black's (in Canada). It was about $60 but I got it with a 50% discount before Christmas. The remote was actually ordered off Ebay.  Honestly, it was $9 and works perfectly (as you can see!). Those of you looking to buy one or the other, DO IT!  Now that I don't have a photographer at my disposal, I can do it myself with very little trouble!

Frost-bitten.

Today, I took outfit photos all-by-myself. I was testing out both my new tripod (yay!) and remote (double yay!). In most pictures you can see the remote in my hand - I'll have to work on hiding that from view in the future.

Outfit photos are becoming more and more difficult. I opened the door to step outside for these pics and the freezing wind forced me to close the door again. I re-evaluated my plan to take outfit photos today. When I realized the blog wouldn't populate itself, I decided to give it another go. After a minute or two my skin numbed a little and I couldn't feel the cold so much. At that point I realized I should get inside before I get any frost-bite.  I'm not sure how I'll handle outfit photos in the middle of January and February.  All you other Canadian bloggers, I don't know how you ladies do it.

Today my cousin is heading back to Denmark. She was here for 12 days but it seemed to go by way too quickly.  Whenever she leaves I forget what I used to do with my life when she wasn't around!

Happy New Year!

I hope you all got the chance to celebrate last night (if you're into that thing, anyway)! I, personally, cannot wait for the family feast we've got planned for tonight. I absolutely love food, so pot-lucks/family feasts are my favourite.

Here's what I wore last night. I partied it up with my cousin and it totally rocked. Plus it was an excuse to get all dolled up (which is always fun).

2011 was a great year for me. I accomplished some big things, such as finishing my degree and getting some great marketing experience through a wonderful internship.  I spent a lot of time with friends and family - the things that are most important in my life. But as the year changes, lots is changing for me and I'm hoping 2012 will also be a good year. I'm going into it with no prior commitments and I can do whatever the heck I want. It's a very new feeling.

I've got some goals for the new year:
1. Grow this little blog. I've got a bunch of new ideas for the blog in the new year. That, my friends, I am excited for.

2. Find a great job.  I've had lots of wonderful internships and I hope that this experience will help start me off on the right foot in my career. I'll have to work my butt off, but I hope to land a marketing job in Ottawa this year. Fingers crossed!

3. Live outside of my comfort zone. I don't like doing things I'm not comfortable with, but this year I plan to take down my wall more often. Change is good, and I've got to remember this every day :)

I know this is a little long of a post, but I just want to say thank you to all of you guys for all of the support over the year. You've all been wonderful and make my day, every day :)

New Year's Eve

This afternoon I'm relaxing with a cozy scarf and a cup of tea before tonight's festivities begin.

I hope 2012 brings you happiness, love and wonderful memories,

And I wish you all a fabulous and safe evening tonight.

The importance of sweaters.

Staying at my parents' place means cozy oversized sweaters. They like to keep the temperature at sub-zero levels (not really but it feels like it). Without sweaters, you might turn into an icicle. Luckily I scored this one for Christmas! It's so nice and cozy that I can wrap myself in it if I get a little chilly. I just love the colour. It didn't show up very well in these photos, but it's a nice deep burgundy.

Oh how I love the snow this time of year. It goes well with the warmth and comfort of the holidays. Come January 2nd, I'm tired of the snow. But it's not Jan 2nd yet, so it's still okay! Fall snow, fall before I get tired of you!
