My Best Friend's Wedding!

As most of you know, my best friend Kelly got married over the weekend.  I didn't get to take too many pictures on my camera, so I stole these photos from the other bridesmaids.

Here's a sneek peak of the day!

The photographer took us out to a field with hay bails.
It was a great setting for photos at a country wedding :)

The bridesmaids <3. For some reason the colouring was weird with this picture...

The wedding party in the limo.

Bride and groom cutting the cake!

It was a gorgeous wedding and I think we each shed a tear a couple of times... Because we were all in the bridal party, we didn't end up getting any pictures of the venue :(  The photographer is going to have some wonderful shots, though. I'm excited to see them.

And because I know that she creeps my blog: Congrats Kelly, I love you and wish you two all the best :)

It's sheer!

As of a few weeks ago, I owned nothing sheer. Until I picked up this gorgeous button-up from Dynamite!

Forever 21 boots and necklace; Dynamite sheer blouse; Gap pants and cardigan

The colour is perfect for fall, and I love the oversized cut. Paired with my flared jeans? This outfit is one of my favourites. Fall gives the ability for so much more layering and creativity!

And check out this awesome necklace. I know you can't see very well, but it's a mini pocket-style-watch on a chain. And it actually tells the time.... It's pretty great.

As some of you may know, my best friend got married this weekend. I'll post pictures soon, I promise :)

I love menswear.

Menswear. I love menswear. This shirt is from the men's section at The Bay, and it's one of my favourite pieces of clothing. Ever. It's super comfortable and perfect for fall.

I felt wonderful in this outfit. The two different plaid patterns made me happy :)

I'm really sorry I've been terrible at keeping up with all of your lovely blogs this weekend. It's been sooooo busy for me recently and I can't promise that the next few days will be much better. I will be back to normal soon, I hope.

Thanks again to all of my lovely readers. You guys are awesome :)

Not many people have seen this...

But today, you get to see Kelly's bed-head. Yes, that's right, this is how I look when I wake up in the morning:

Fabulous, no?

Anyways, recently I was contacted by someone at Misikko to do a review of the 1.5 inch HANA Professional Flat Iron. I know you guys have probably seen so many of these reviews, so I'm going to try and give you some good, hard facts about this product, and let you know exactly how I felt about it. Remember that this review is 100% my own.

First of all, this is how it came.  Nice packaging, as you can tell. I especially love the heat-resistant mat because I've never had one of those!

I'll show you this picture again to remind you what I look like when I wake up:

In under 9 minutes (at the hottest setting), I was able to transform that (above) to this (below):

I was also able to curl my hair with the flat iron:
The straightener is 1.5 inches and has a controllable heat setting that goes up to 450 degrees. It takes a couple minutes to heat up. I've been using the iron for a couple of weeks now, so I feel ready to review the product for you guys :)

I have never used a CHI Iron (Misikko sells them too!), but for three years, I have been using my extremely dependable and wonderful Metropolis Iron.  So, how do I feel about the HANA flat iron? I would give it a rating of 9/10.  It does its job wonderfully (evidence above). Obviously it straightens my hair.

Really, the only drawback I noticed was that even on the hottest setting, I still have to go over the same pieces of hair twice to get them straight sometimes. Also it doesn't heat up as fast as my last straightener by it was a 1 inch, so less surface area to heat up.

If you're looking for a great flat iron, I would definitely recommend it!  The HANA Shine Shield Thermal Protectant also does a great job keeping my hair silky and smooth after being straightened.  Misikko also sells other styling products under the Model in a Bottle line, which can be used to set your hair with after it's been straightened.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this straightener to anyone looking for a professional, good quality flat iron. =)

Safari Dress

This was another purchase from the new Forever 21 in Ottawa! I tried on this dress without actually intending to buy it. Who does that? I do that. I was just intrigued by it and was curious to see how it would look without expecting much.

You know what? It's one of my favourite pieces.

Forever 21 dress,  bracelets and belt; Payless (American Eagle) wedge heels

Here it's been fall, then summer, then fall, then summer again. I wore this during one of our summery days, hence the wedge sandals, but I'm pretty excited remix this dress with my faux-leather jacket during the fall. Oh yes. Whenever it decides to stick around for good.

Well, maybe I shouldn't ask for it too soon. My best friend's getting married this Saturday and the ceremony is outdoors.  Now the weatherman is calling for fall temperatures and a 70% chance of rain. Not cool, weatherman. Not cool.

I'm not here today...

... Instead, I'm guest posting over here, at Tales of Samantha Something!

Come and visit if you're interested to learn how to style white pants for the fall!

p.s. This is my first guest post so I'm pretty excited :)

They aren't polka-dots!

When I saw this outfit on Hayley from The Weekend File, I feel in love with her bag first, and then noticed how incredibly awesome her jacket was.

Old Navy shirt; Forever 21 jacket; Dynamite pants; Spring shoes

Then, when I stepped foot in the Ottawa's new (and only) Forever 21, I spotted the jacket. Right there. Begging for me to try it on. It fit so well that I also walked out of the store with it. It won my heart over.  This jacket was only part of the Forever 21 haul, but it's a great piece for fall.  It's got itty-bitty flowers on it that look like polka-dots. Or "paw prints" as my boyfriend noted.

I'm getting pretty creative with some of my picture-taking.  As you know, I don't have a tripod so I try to find ideal objects to balance my camera on while using the timer.  This time, it was a newspaper box! I mean, the background isn't the greatest, but I can't really be picky in my situation. I'm proud of my creativity today, though :)

My cape-sweater thing...

The other day I was at Zellers with my mom and saw this cape-sweater thing. Though it wasn't expensive, I felt guilty spending money on it because I had already blown my shopping budget for the month.

Cape-sweater (from Zellers); AE Jeans; Converse Shoes; DIY scarf

Later, I came home to my parents' place for the weekend. I go into my room, and there's the cape-sweater, nicely folded on my desk.  My mom is just THAT awesome and surprised me with it! I was super excited  because I couldn't stop thinking about it after I had seen it! It's the perfect addition for fall :)

I love outfits where I can wear my converse... They're definitely some of my favourite shoes. I wore this outfit to the mall to take my first steps in Rideau Centre's new Forever 21 (cue excitement!)... Of course I came out with a bag full of clothes, which was exactly how I blew my budget...For more on what I purchased, stay tuned for future posts!

EBEW: Colored Pants

Hey everyone!

I'm so excited for today's EBEW! I bought these cobalt blue pants not long ago and have been dying to style them again. I am in love!

Dynamite pants; Zellers shirt and belt; F21 bag; Smart Set flats; H&M bracelets

I really love the look of neutrals with such a bright colour, it really makes it stand out. I added the leopard print flats just to keep it a little fun.

Now I'm off to check out everyone else's EBEW looks! I can't wait to see how the rest of you styled your colored pants :)

Everybody, Everywear | Colored Pants

This lovely colour and a scarf DIY

Currently my favourite colour: cobalt blue.

Shirt and Pants from Dynamite; Sweater from Gap; Shoes from Aldo; Scarf - DIY below!!!

Sometimes the wind likes to attack my hair...

Like I said, I'm totally in love with this colour! It's perfect for fall - bright, but also dark/deep. Does that make sense? Anyway, after purchasing the blue pants and this blue top, I had to restrain myself from spending another $20 at Forever 21 to purchase a midi-skirt in this colour... I'm still thinking about it...

I DIY'ed this t-shirt scarf about a month ago, but I wanted to wait for the cooler weather to debut it with an outfit! I love it and would really like to make another one in a different colour. I pinned the DIY on my Pinterest. Here are some pictures of the steps (super simple steps, might I add!):

1. Get a big t-shirt. I think I used a size XL men's for this one. Cut the shirt length-wise in pieces that are about 1 inch (or so) wide. I just eyeballed it, honestly.  Cut up to the arms of the shirt.

2. Grab each strand and stretch it to make it longer... you'll notice they sort of fold inwards. Just don't stretch too hard, or you might rip the seams. Gather all of the loops together with the seams at opposite ends.

3. Take one of the loops and cut it at each seam.  Take one of the pieces, and wrap it around the loop seams to cover them.  I stitched this down because I didn't want it to fall apart. Do the same to the other seam with the other cut piece. The end result should look like:

4. And voila! Scarf is finished! :)

One of my last summer outfits...hopefully.

Guess what everyone.... I'm finally ready for fall. After the humidity last weekend and the heat this week, I'm done with +30°C weather. Done, I tell ya.

Hopefully this will be one of my last summer outfits. I'm really ready for jeans, leggings, blazers, cardigans and boots...

Bracelets from F21

Shirt from Costa Blanca; Shoes, Shorts, Bracelets from F21

For these photos I borrowed my dad's camera. Yay for pictures where my skin doesn't reflect the sun! I'd love to go and play around with this camera a little more to test out some of the cool functions... =D

I've also been thinking that it's about time to re-design my blog. Unfortunately, I have very little expertise in blog design... Does anyone know of any good designers?!?

My Labour Day Weekend!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Labour Day weekend. I spent most of my weekend in Kingston with my boyfriend and his family. It was a good time and I got to tour the city a bit.

Here are some pictures of the adventures:

The horse-drawn carriage that we rode.

Boyfriend at the Kingston Locks.

Love this picture - the fresh food, the flowers...

Some really interesting performers.

Random old-school phone booth :)

Love this picture.

The harbour. Look at all the boats!!!

We had a great time :) It would have been nicer if the humidity wasn't so high... We had to pop in and out of air-conditioned stores throughout the day. Yep, gross I tell ya.

Hope everyone else had a wonderful Labour Day weekend! What did you all do?
